The Secret You Were Never Supposed to Know
Aug 03, 2025
Nine months ago, I was knee-deep in organizing the Spring 2025 Cohort of Your Bestselling Book, our acclaimed writing course, and launching The Story Cure, our vetted community of creators who are eager to get their voices heard.
So when I first received an inquiry from LD Chen about my ghostwriting services, I didn’t pay much attention to what his book was about.
Well, lucky me.
As so often happens, the books I need seem to find me just when at the right moment in my life – time and again. I’d been suffering from insomnia and bouts of anxiety since launching my own business in spring 2023 (it’s no cakewalk being an entrepreneur!).
What is Oneness?
LD Chen introduced me to Oneness, an ancient Chinese healing practice that can completely transform your life. After meeting LD in person in the Bay Area and getting some coaching from him, I started practicing this form of standing meditation, done with eyes open and a gentle smile.
Within a few weeks, I was sleeping better. These days, I feel a sense of calm most of the time. My anxiety has gently washed away like a receding tide.
Over the past few decades, Oneness has taken off in China thanks to LD Chen’s sensei, Grandmaster Yu. The practice has helped thousands of people suffering from chronic pain, mental illness, and a host of other ailments to recover joyful lives.
Now, LD Chen is on a mission to bring Oneness to the Western world. And I’ve coauthored a book with him to help you learn this incredible technique.

LD Chen’s Story
At age 32, LD Chen was a successful entrepreneur with a bustling fashion business in China, a loving wife and son. From the outside, it looked like he had it all figured out. But on the inside, he was quietly falling apart.
Chronic pain. Anxiety. Burnout. Liver disorder. Then, a heart attack.
LD tried everything: conventional medicine, martial arts, Traditional Chinese Medicine. Nothing worked. Then, his kungfu teacher suggested he try Oneness.
His life changed forever.
LD is not only healed from his anxiety, burnout and physical ailments. He reports having a sense of total joy and tranquility throughout most of his life.
To his family, friends, and students, he says the same thing: “I can't believe something this simple saved me.”
And for me? Coauthoring Oneness with LD Chen has been a gift. He is a lovely human being whose spiritual awakening radiates in every interaction with me, our publishers, and the book promoters.
The experience has reminded me that sometimes the most radical thing we can do is stop trying so hard and just be.
Your Story Matters
I believe Oneness will positively impact thousands of people, helping them to heal. But this book is not unique.
Your story matters, too. Your path to wholeness, creativity, and authentic expression matters.
Whether you're working on a memoir, a business book, or exploring creative nonfiction, remember that your most powerful material comes from your most vulnerable places. The struggles you've overcome, the wisdom you've gained through difficulty, the healing you've experienced. These are gifts waiting to be shared with others who need to hear exactly what you've learned.

Tip of the Week: The Power of Collaboration
The magic of collaboration comes from sharing the workload—both in writing and in promoting your book.
And there's more to it than that.
When you collaborate, you bring two different perspectives together to create something neither individual could achieve alone.
When choosing a coauthor, look beyond credentials to find someone whose vision aligns with yours but whose strengths complement what you bring. Maybe you’re a better writer, but they’re better at social media. Or you’re super creative, and they have mad organizational skills.
The best collaborations happen when you can surrender your ego to serve the larger story that wants to be told.
Quote of the Week
You can’t find another practice as effective, as direct, yet as simple.
