Self-Help Guru Tony Robbins says this is 1 of 3 Key Factors for Personal Transformation

Apr 06, 2025

I’ve never followed Tony Robbins before. But a book coaching client asked me to watch a short portion of his most recent virtual personal empowerment event, The Time to Rise Summit, and to my great surprise, I found myself transfixed. I watched the entire 3 hours.

Tony Robbins is a master storyteller. He begins with revealing his personal story: Having grown up poor, hustling like a crazy person to land his first personal growth seminar. He succeeds in making you like and trust him right away.

Much later in the seminar, he defines how you can reshape your reality and achieve your loftiest goals. This, he explains, demands focus on 3 core elements:

  1. Strategy: Knowing where you want to go and formulating a plan to get there
  2. State: Mastering your mental, physical and emotional condition
  3. Story: Your beliefs about yourself

Now by story, he’s talking about self-limiting stories. Beliefs that block you from trying new strategies.

“The story is what stops us,” Tony Robbins says. For example, “I’ve tried everything to lose weight. Nothing works for me.” Or, “I want to write a book, but I just don’t have the patience.”

Tony asks What if you had a new story? “I am healthy and can reach my goal weight. I am an author.” Not only that, but what if you added to this story, “Everything in my life serves my purpose. It has value. It made me who I am today.”

People change their lives completely with just these 3 strategies. I hope you accomplish whatever it is you’d most love to achieve, as well.

Aloha,

MeiMei

Tip of the Week: Write a New Story

  • Sit down with a pen and paper when you know you’ll be uninterrupted for at least 30 minutes.
  • Begin with a few deep breaths, sinking into your body and slowing your mind.
  • Now ask yourself:
    • What’s an old story I need to shed? (This seems especially apropos in 2025, the Year of the Snake according to the Chinese Zodiac!)
    • What’s a more empowering story I could tell instead?
  • Here’s the most profound part of the exercise, which Tony actually uses in his seminars: Write it down. Because the act of writing it – the old story you’re casting aside, the new story you’re ready to create – literally rewires your brain.

Quote of the Week

Change your story, change your life.
